Gil Garcia:

A Story That Deserves To Be Told

Hello, friends. Caleb Ávila here once again, writing my weekly editorial for you. This time, I want to dedicate it to one of the newest members of our team, Gil García.

As always, I enjoy telling my stories through these editorials, which are written specifically from the perspective of the founder and director, and that person is me. This time, it is my turn to write about Gil García, a man I have known for many years, nearly twenty, if not twenty already.

Gil is a man I first met while he was living here in my town in Texas. I came to know him through someone who worked with me at the time, Catherine Fuentes, if I remember correctly, or Catherine Pablo.

From the moment I met Gil García, I saw him as an exceptionally capable man with a brilliant mind, someone able to solve almost any technological puzzle placed in front of him.

For many years, even though he was not officially part of my team, Gil was the person responsible for managing my websites in the professional manner that my businesses required.

Gil enjoyed living in Southeast Texas after leaving the Navy as a Desert Storm/Desert Shield military veteran, who enjoyed decrypting messages sent to the ship from DC during the war. Being around computers and technology was just always his thing.

Gil has always enjoyed learning about the latest technology while onboard the USS John F. Kennedy. When Gil is not solving problems on computers, he enjoys long rides in the rolling hills on his bike or working with any willing partner wanting to learn about playing tennis, which is also a sport he learned in Southeast Texas.

With his knowledge and experience, he was always able to help me solve problems that sometimes seemed impossible to resolve.

Gil García was always there. Yet, from my perspective, he was someone with such tremendous intellectual ability and technological knowledge that I never imagined there would come a day when he would actually work as part of my team.

But life changes. The world changes. People change, and so do the circumstances surrounding their lives.

Then one day, unexpectedly, Gil told me, “If there is anything else that needs to be done besides what I already do, put me on your list. I would like to do more work.”

That comment remained in my mind. It stayed there for some time, waiting until the moment when it would become necessary.

There is no doubt that businesses like mine, like so many others, face attacks and difficult challenges. We sometimes encounter powerful competitors who recognize our potential and come at us with everything they have in an effort to bring us down.

Over time, my businesses have grown into competitors that can concern already-established companies. When others discover what we know and what we are capable of accomplishing, some begin to see us as a threat and approach us with a mission to destroy what we have built.

It was during one of those difficult moments that I remembered Gil García’s words.

His offer suddenly became necessary, extremely necessary, and it came at exactly the right moment.

Gil García became the person who stepped in and replaced two people who had frequently complained about the work they were doing.

Without a doubt, in a month or less, Gil García has become an incredibly valuable person to me, to my team and to my businesses.

Through his existing knowledge, combined with a little additional study and preparation, he has quickly demonstrated just how much he is capable of accomplishing.

At the same time, I believe I have also become a blessing in his life by providing him with a source of income and an opportunity that perhaps might not have appeared in the same way somewhere else.

Life is beautiful, and in this case knowledge came together with the teacher, that quiet teacher who, at first glance, may not appear to know very much.

And it is true, I do not know everything. But when I take the little that I do know and combine it with knowledgeable people like Gil García, something powerful happens.

It reminds me of a line from a Bruce Willis movie: together, we are dynamite.

And that is what we have become today.

Gil García brings his intelligence, technological abilities and knowledge of social media, the internet and websites. In a remarkably short period of time, the two of us have become people who are extremely valuable to one another.

I feel deeply grateful and fortunate to have found in him someone so loyal and knowledgeable. I never imagined that a person with his abilities and credentials would one day become such an important part of my team.

I thank God infinitely for giving me the opportunity to know people like him.

I also thank God that people with so much knowledge can still possess a noble and humble heart.

Gil has a simple and sincere heart much like my own, where money is not nearly as important as love, gratitude and appreciation for the opportunity to work.

That work brought us together, and today I believe both of us have been blessed by God.

Gil has also surprised me with what he has accomplished. In only one week, he learned how to put an entire newspaper together, something that is not easy for a person who had never done it before.

Gil García, I want to tell you that I am very happy and grateful to God. I am also deeply grateful to you.

I am especially happy because we have always been friends, and today we are more than friends. We are brothers.

Your story is a story that deserves to be told because it is the story of a man with tremendous knowledge who also carries great love, simplicity and humility within his heart.

I want to thank you for contacting me and asking me for an opportunity.

I probably never would have asked you myself, but I am grateful that you did. I will always remember that moment as a blessing from God in my personal life.

And if I have also been a blessing to you, then both of us have won.

In the end, everyone associated with us and with our other products and businesses can also benefit from what we are building together.

May God bless you, Gil García.

I pray that you never change and that you continue being the person you are today, the person you have always been and the person I hope you will remain for the rest of your life.

God willing, we will continue together on this mission because perhaps this is part of what we were born to do.

Perhaps that is why we met.

Perhaps it is why, after all these years, our paths came together again at exactly the right moment. Always the right moment for everything.

Amen.
